NEW MUSIC ALERT! SAVING LATELY (single)

release 10 May 2024

Saving Lately is the first taste of our next batch of music, the mini-EP: ‘The Lolland Sessions Volume II’, out everywhere on May 10th, 2024.

Here is the artwork, created lovingly by our friend Sesil Knage. You can find more of her work here.

We were joined by guitar maestro Kristian Hoffman for this session, who sprinkles Saving Lately with the glorious grit of a true Stratocaster Samurai.

Mixed and mastered in-house by space dudes.

More to come soon...

About

Space Dudes are a folk / jam / experimental music project based in Denmark. Not a folk band, nor rock or pop or jazz, Space Dudes is about exploration, mining the outer edges of acoustic based music with hypnotic jams, live recording and songwriting muscle.

Space Dudes was founded by guitarists Tom Dockray (AU) and Rick Hauchman (USA) who jammed and smoked their way through during the lonely winter months of 2019 in Copenhagen. The two continue to perform as a duo from time to time.

Lars Heiberg Andersen (drums) was soon added to the lineup, playing his first show at Denmark's most bohemian hole in the wall, Bobuska. Lars shared a rehearsal space with bassist Mads Løvenholdt, who was quickly assimilated into the fold. The talents of jazz pianist Lars Emil Riis (HOGO FOGO) were soon lured, and the lineup was cemented.

The new band bunkered down during January 2021 in a recording space originally built to preserve human lives from the threat of Göring's blitzkrieg to make an album, thanks in part to support from KODA. These sessions produced Space Dudes' self-titled debut album, released in 2022. Featured guests include violinist Thyge Van Dassen (Twang), dobro from Anders Beck (Leftover Salmon), and Jens Koch (G2).

The band returns to the studio, periodically expanding the catalogue, capturing small batches of tracks over intensive recording weekends.

Space Dudes’ Loon aims to relate the dirty story of the world in contrast with the beautiful art that has been created within it. Is all of this art medicine for a sick world or a way for the artist to retreat from it? Part confession, part finger-pointing, Space Dudes’ tender cries might be the reminder we all need not take any of the beauty around us for granted.” - Eduard Banulescu

On this first single, ‘Behind Your Tears‘, Dockray’s exceptional and expressive, bluesy voice is the focus before the song blossoms into a Van Morrison-esque vista of intertwined instruments and a beautifully lyric central guitar line. Sonically the song hangs beautifully in the air, treading lightly as it dances along.” - Chris Familton

Post To Wire

Some of the greatest artists are able to open a door into their world. Many of them honest to a tee. The majority of them display tremendous traits of intelligence. I don’t worry much about the knuckleheads. They seem to manage. The smart ones though… Space Dudes, regardless of their moniker, are very clever. Freaks on the Scene is a really cool attempt at rap over indie-rock instrumentation. It certainly doesn’t sound like the first time they’ve written a tune. It’s fun, and strange. And, if you like the groove that Space Dudes are kicking, it’s hard not to hope, or feel some concern, about them finding their way."” - Eduard Banulescu
